The public policy process

The never-ending policy process

In any given topic of policy, the public policy process is never complete, although discrete stages within the broader process will be. This is principally because the oversight & evaluation of Parliament is continual. Even in settled areas of policy, Parliament’s oversight role does not terminate. This is why the UK’s Comptroller & Auditor General is an officer of the House of Commons and submits his or her reports to Parliament.
